National Team

What is the U.S. National Team?

As the national governing body for the sport of rowing, USRowing administers the national rowing teams. There are four primary categories: senior, adaptive, under 23 and junior. In the Olympic year, there also are Olympic and Paralympic teams, separate from the senior and adaptive national teams. These teams represent the United States in competition at their respective World Rowing Championships or the Olympic/Paralympic Games. For full information on those regattas and which events are contested there, please see the World Rowing Web site at www.worldrowing.com

How can I be considered for the U.S. Senior National Team?

Athletes who are interested in senior national team opportunities should check the camps section of the national team page for pre-elite or identification camps. These are generally made available in early fall and early spring. Athletes are also encouraged to submit their erg scores through our National Team Testing (NTT) program. For more information, please see the NTT section of our Web site.

How can I be considered for the U.S. Junior National Team?

Athletes who are interested in junior national team opportunities must attend at least one identification camp. For ID camp schedules, please see the camps section under the junior page of our Web site or www.usrowingjrs.org. ID camp schedules are made available in December/January. Registration for ID camps is done through RegattaCentral at www.regattacentral.com. Athletes with junior national team aspirations are also encouraged to submit erg scores through the NTT program, so they can gauge their competitiveness against other junior national team hopefuls. For more information, please see the NTT section of our website.

How can I be considered for the U.S. Under 23 National Team?

Athletes who are interested in under 23 national team opportunities should check the camps section of the national team page for pre-elite or identification camp sessions. These are made available in early fall and early spring. Typically, an application to the U-23 national team head coach is also required, which will be specified on the Web site in the spring. Athletes are also encouraged to submit their erg scores through our National Team Testing (NTT) program. For more information, please see the NTT section of our website.

How can I be considered for the U.S. Adaptive National Team?

Invitations to development camps are based upon coach’s recommendations and erg scores. Athletes are encouraged to submit their erg scores through the National Team Testing (NTT) Program for identification purposes. For more information, please see the NTT section of our Web site.

Where does the team train?

USRowing has three national training centers at the Princeton National Rowing Association (PNRA) in Princeton, N.J., at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., and at the Devon Boathouse in Oklahoma City, Okla.

How can I donate to the team?

Donations to the national team are greatly appreciated. It is with the generous support of donors that we fund many of our programs, including travel to international regattas. Click here for more information.

When does the team travel?

National team athletes represent the United States in various international competitions throughout the year, including world cup regattas, the Royal Henley Regatta, Canadian Henley, and the world championships.

How do I submit National Team Testing (NTT) scores?

National Team Testing (NTT) scores can be submitted on our website by clicking here. Please note that only Championship Members can make submissions. Please see the NTT page for a full description of the program parameters and results.

What is my password for the National Team Testing form?

Your password for the NTT form is the same as the password for your USRowing membership, typically your zip code. If you changed your password from its default setting and can’t remember it, call the USRowing main line at 1-800-314-4769 or e-mail members@usrowing.org.

Camp schedules, selection event dates, international events information, parent guides and selection procedures can all be found in this section of our website.
