2012 NSR I Entry Packet

Events:

NSR I events: M1x, M2-, W2-
Speed Order events: LM2-

Location:
Racing will be conducted from the boathouse of the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA (2800 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91915). NSRI participants will not have access to locker rooms or showers on-site. Restrooms will be available.

Racing Format:
Please see Appendix H of the 2012 Olympic Selection Procedures for a description for the 6-lane progression system that will be used for this event. Time trial distance is 1,900 meters. Time trials will use one or two lanes, dependent on the number of entries, with a 40-second gap between each crew in that lane. The USRowing Rules of Rowing will be in effect.

Live Streaming of Finals:
USRowing will live stream finals for this event online at http://rowing.teamusa.org/live beginning 7:45 a.m. PST Saturday, March 17.

Athlete meeting:
The athlete meeting for this event will be held at the boathouse of the Olympic Training Center. The entrant or their representative must attend the meeting or they will be scratched from competition.

Race Course information:
Please take note that the starting light system will not be used for racing.
Stake boats will be used at the start.

Practice Schedule (tentative and subject to change):

The first opportunity for NSR I participants to arrive at the venue and practice on Otay Lake is Tuesday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m. Please follow the practice times listed below and check in with USRowing staff for practice traffic patterns and boat storage areas upon arrival. Specific trailer and boat storage information will be updated closer to the event.

Adverse Weather:
Please see Appendix G of the of the 2012 Olympic Selection Procedures for a description of the Adverse Weather Conditions Policy that will be in effect. This will also be posted on site.

Lightweights:
USRowing will follow FISA weights for all lightweight competitors in both the NSR and the Speed Order.

A rower may compete in lightweight rowing events if he meets the following criteria:
•A lightweight men’s crew (excluding coxswain) shall have an average weight not exceeding 70 kg. No individual lightweight male rower may weigh more than 72.5kg.
•A lightweight male single sculler may not weigh more than 72.5 kg.
•A lightweight women’s crew (excluding coxswain) shall have an average weight not exceeding 57 kg. No individual lightweight female rower may weigh more than 59 kg.
•A female lightweight single sculler may not weigh more than 59 kg.

Lightweight rowers will be weighed wearing only their racing uniform on calibrated scales not less than one hour and not more than two hours before their first race of each lightweight event in which they are competing, each day of the competition.
 
USRowing Compliance:
All competitors must be current full privilege members of USRowing and have a signed liability waiver on file. Athletes will not be permitted to launch if they are not in compliance with these requirements. Please check your status and renew your membership and waiver before arriving for competition. This can be done online at www.usrowing.org by clicking on “Join/Renew” or by contacting member services at 1-800-314-4ROW. Membership staff will not be on-site, so it is important to ensure compliance in advance of the event.
 
Parking:
All vehicles must park on the south side of the Boathouse. Boat trailers may park along the dirt access road behind the boathouse. This may change, so please check the website and on-site for more information. Emergency vehicles will need to have a clear path from the paved road all the way to the boathouse. Any vehicle not following the outlined parking rules, parking signs on site, or staff instructions will be towed at the owner’s expense.

Boat Storage:

All boats will be stored outside on personal slings or on club trailers. There is no rack space available at the facility (outdoor or indoor) and participants will not have access to boat bays. Please be mindful of emergency access roads and walkways. Equipment that is blocking a path may be moved.

Entry fee: $30 per seat
Entry deadline: Wednesday, March 7 at midnight PST
Scratch/late entry fee (for changes after the deadline): $60

This event is open to all collegiate, club, and unaffiliated athletes. Junior national team candidates will not be considered.

As outlined in the 2012 Rules of Rowing:

•All competitors must be citizens or nationals of the United States
•No competitor may wear the uniform of the U.S. national team during competition
•Use of national team colors on oars is prohibited

From San Diego (Interstate 5)
•Take Interstate 5 South
•Exit onto Route 54 East
•Merge onto Interstate 805 South
•Exit at Olympic Parkway
•Turn left onto Olympic Parkway
•Continue approximately 8 miles and turn right onto Wueste Road (first light after you pass the main entrance to the Olympic Training Center)
•Boathouse is approximately .5 miles on left hand side of Wueste Road
