    Sam Dommer (Folsom, Calif.) almost walked away from rowing – twice. The first time came in 2014 after winning a collegiate national championship. U.S. men’s coach Luke McGee called to invite him to Princeton, N.J., to try out for the national team, but Dommer said no. Then, he had a dream that he had made a mistake, reconsidered, and made the trip to New Jersey.

  • United States to be Represented by 52 crews at the 2016 Henley Royal Regatta

    Regarded as one of the most well-known and prestigious regattas, the Henley Royal Regatta (HRR) will be held June 29 through July 3 on the River Thames in Henley-on-Thames, England. This year, the 2016 HRR has received a record number of entries, at 629 crew, eclipsing the previous record of 552 set in 1998.

  • Davenport to Head New USRowing Education Initiative

    USRowing is pleased to announce that Mike Davenport will join the staff as the organization's Chief of Educational Assets. Davenport has been a familiar name in rowing and sports education for more than three decades. He’s coached for 35 years – the last 26 as the head coach at Washington College in Chestertown, Md. – earned a Doctorate of Education in educational innovation and leadership, taught business management as a member of Washington College's faculty, ran the popular Rowing Talks symposium and has written seven books.

  • Getting a Second Chance at an Olympic Medal

    Steve Kasprzyk came within a fraction of a second of winning an Olympic medal in the men’s eight in London. For the past four years, the idea of coming that close fueled the Cinnaminson, N.J. native’s desire for a second chance.   • Call for USRowing Annual Award Nominations

    Recognizing excellence in our sport is a long-standing tradition, passed down through generations of rowers. Over the years, significant personalities in rowing have been immortalized through named honors, trophies and medals. Many of those significant awards will be presented at the 2016 Golden Oars Awards dinner on November 17 and at the USRowing Annual Convention on December 3.
