USRowing Training Center’s Ursula Grobler finished fifth in the women’s single sculls event Sunday at the Koninklijke Holland Beker 2010 in Amsterdam. The regatta, which dates back to 1886, attracts several of the world’s top rowers to the Bosbaan race course to compete for World Cup medals, the Ladies’ Trophy and the Holland Becker Trophy.

Grobler, who was recently named to the 2010 U.S. National Team in the lightweight women’s double sculls, dominated in her heat and semifinal en route to the final. In the heat, Grobler led from wire-to-wire to win by nearly seven seconds in a 7:48.08 and advance to the semis. The lightweight sculler repeated her performance in Saturday’s semifinal, posting a 0.9-second victory over double Olympic gold medalist Ekaterina Karsten of Belarus.

In the final, Grobler was fourth off the line and made a push at the halfway point to move into second-place behind Czech Republic’s Mirka Knapkova. She fell back into fourth by the 1,500-meter mark and crossed the line in a 7:49.08 for fifth place overall. Karsten won the race in a 7:31.21 for the Ladies’ Trophy, followed by Knapkova in second with a time of 7:36.33. Russia’s Youlia Levina crossed third in a 7:41.49, with Sweden’s Frida Svensson in a 7:46.81 for fourth place. Anastasiya Fadzeyenka finished sixth in an 8:03.41.
