USRowing is pleased to announce the launch of its new Training Center Partner Program in an effort to create partnerships with clubs across the country.
PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing is pleased to announce the launch of its new Training Center Partner Program in an effort to create partnerships with clubs across the country that have a strong desire to collaborate on the development of athletes who will represent the United States internationally. Partner programs will place an emphasis on training athletes in small boat development and incorporating athletes in senior and under 23 camps and trials.
“We believe this can be a good step forward in streamlining our pipeline of athletes and coaches who aspire to be or work with national team athletes,” said USRowing High Performance Director Matt Imes. “The feedback so far has been extremely positive. We are able to offer assistance to clubs in the program with training program tips or reviews, technical consults, updated testing standards and other relevant materials. Our goal isn't to change the structure of these clubs, but to see if we can help them. A strong club system in the U.S. provides us with better opportunities for a strong national team.
“Long term, we want to be able to create better communications with the athletes and coaches in the program,” said Imes. “This could entail monthly conference calls with the coaches to update them on current national team events and ask for feedback on issues, procedures and training camps. USRowing would like to see this grow as a partnership. Hopefully, we can use this program to set up races and speed order opportunities and maybe some technical and/or training clinics. We see this as a chance to try some new ideas and see how they go.”
In addition, partner programs will have access to national team training programs and the opportunity to consult with USRowing National Team staff and the Director of Coaching Education, Kris Korzeniowski, in the development of training programs and standards.
