USRowing is pleased to announce the U.S. Junior Worlds Development Team. Twenty-four athletes will be traveling to Banyoles, Spain for 10 days to train in small boats and help build their foundations for the upcoming 2015 season.

USRowing moved the worlds development team program to Spain in 2013, as the focus has shifted from the eight and four to training and development in small boats, according to USRowing Director of Development Steve Hargis.

“The course at Banyoles provides us opportunity for us to challenge our high level development, age-eligible athletes in a fantastic, international training environment of a former Olympic venue. We believe that efficiencies and knowledge gained in these boats will provide us better 'boat movers' as they grow in the junior national team structure,” said Hargis.

The 2015 Junior Worlds Development Team is selected from the junior sweep, sculling and high performance camps, and provides a unique development opportunity for athletes who have birthdays in 1997 or later that have demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level.

Banyoles was the venue for rowing events in the 1992 Olympics. In 2004, Banyoles hosted the World Rowing Championships for Junior and Senior Non Olympic events. For more information on the U.S. Junior National Team, visit www.usrowing.org.
