PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing is pleased to announce the date and location of the 2015 USRowing Masters National Championships, scheduled for August 13-16, on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.

The event, hosted by the County of Camden, Camden County Boathouse and Rutgers Camden Alumni Rowing, features athletes 21 and older competing for national titles in 199 categories.

"USRowing is excited to bring masters nationals back to Camden. We expect to see a large turnout, and look forward to showing off the improvements that have gone into this well-known venue,” said USRowing Events Manager A.J. Dominique.

This past year, a $30 million state, county and grant-funded program called for extensive upgrades to the infrastructure and roadways around the Cooper River, landscaping to clean the vegetation that clogs the riverbanks, the development of bike paths and an amphitheater, development of baseball fields, the dredging of the river and the construction of start and finish line towers that will mirror the architecture of the boathouse that was opened in 2006.

The project is well underway. New docks have been installed in the main launch and recovery areas, landscaping has been done along the riverbanks and road construction is taking place.

“Camden County is excited once again to host the USRowing Masters National Championships in 2015. It will be an exciting year for the Cooper River as we can showcase our course improvements made over this upcoming winter,” said Camden County Boathouse Manager Jamie Stack.

"Rutgers Camden Alumni Rowing is proud to co-sponsor the 2015 USRowing Masters National Championships and is looking forward to providing an enjoyable and memorable experience on our Cooper River for all those attending,” said Rutgers Alumni Crew representative Ron Corcory.

The Cooper River has played host to a number of USRowing national championship regattas, as well as NCAA and ECAC college events. In 2012 and 2013, the Camden County Board of Freeholders and Rutgers University Alumni Crew hosted the 2012 USRowing Club National Championships.

This year’s USRowing Masters National Championships, held in Grand Rapids, Mich., featured 1,250 competitors from 120 rowing organizations across the country. West Michigan Sports Commissioner Mike Gusweiler estimated the economic impact topped $2 million.
