Community Rowing, Inc. Director of Outreach and para-rowing coach Ellen Minzner could probably just sit back and enjoy everything she and her para-rowing athletes achieved over the past two years. Consecutive world championship silver medals in the legs, trunk and arms four with coxswain event and the 2015 USRowing Isabel Bohn Award for Minzner is a sizable accomplishment for any program and coach.

But with the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio on the horizon, and what she sees as big changes coming for para-rowing worldwide, Minzner is more than a little excited about the future.

“This is probably the most exciting time to be part of para-rowing,” Minzner said during an interview just before the Nov. 19 Golden Oars Awards Dinner. “I feel fortunate to have fallen into it at the time that I did, because I was able to look at it with the curiosity of a stranger.”

Watch the interview to see what Minzner sees coming for para-rowing and how she feels about the advancements she and her crew have made just in the past two seasons.
