The Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista will play host to the first USRowing Coxswain Clinic Series of 2016 on March 26. USRowing Training Center coxswain and 2016 Olympic hopeful Kendall Schmidt will host the event which will also offer a tour of the training center after the program.

USRowing is excited to announce the first stop of its 2016 Coxswain Clinic Series. The event will take place on Saturday, March 26 from 1-4 p.m. at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif.

Headlining the clinic is USRowing Training Center coxswain and 2016 Olympic hopeful1O2A1363 Kendall Schmidt, a member of the U.S. Under 23 National Team in 2012 and 2013 where she won back-to-back gold medals in the women’s eight.

Schmidt spent her undergraduate career at University of Wisconsin where her eight finished fifth at the Head of the Charles in 2011 and 2012. She won the women's champ four with USRowing in 2013, 2014 and 2015.

This is Schmidt’s second coxswain clinic with USRowing, having headlined a successful clinic this past December in Boston, Mass.

“I had a great time meeting and speaking with so many dedicated and enthusiastic coxswains in Boston,” said Schmidt. “I can’t wait to get to know more on the West coast. Our next stop in the USRowing Coxswain Clinic Series will be even more exciting, since it takes place right on the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center campus!”

Some key areas of focus will be safety, steering, boat command, motivation and recruiting. The clinic will provide an educational foundation and insight for all levels of coxswains. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to participate in a question and answer session with Schmidt.

As part of the clinic, participants will have the opportunity to tour the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center facilities as well.

Attendees are encouraged to register early, as space is limited. Check-in for the event will begin at 12:30 p.m. with programming slated to begin at 1 p.m. To register for the event, visit Regatta Central.

Stay tuned for a Coxswain Clinic near you! Additional 2016 events will be announced in the coming weeks for locations throughout the country.
