PRINCETON, N.J. – USRowing, the national governing body for the sport of rowing, and the stewards and directors of five major collegiate rowing championships are pleased to announce a partnership between the organizations.

Beginning this year, USRowing will provide administrative support to the New England Rowing Championships, Women’s Sprints, National Invitational Rowing Championships, EARC Men’s Sprints and Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships in the forms of communication, marketing, vendor relations and regatta management. In return, the collegiate regatta series will continue its support of referee education with financial contributions to USRowing’s Referee Corps.

“Aligning our championships with USRowing will strengthen the image of these longstanding regattas,” said Gary Caldwell, Commissioner USRowing Collegiate Championships Division. “Having these events showcased on USRowing’s national platform will bring a heightened awareness and interest to these events, which will in turn enhance the overall experience for the student-athletes, coaches and fans.”

The partnership includes the following 2016 events:

“We are excited to align the collegiate community together with USRowing,” said USRowing CEO Glenn Merry. “We hope that by offering support as the national governing body, collegiate athletes already embedded in the culture will continue to be active members of the rowing community long after their competitive experience in college.”
