Robin Prendes (Miami, Fla.) and Edward “Mix” King (Ironton, Mo.) have both represented the United States in various forms - Prendes, as an Olympic athlete in 2012 and King, as an active duty United States Naval Officer, rowing for the U.S. as part of the Navy Sports Program.

After winning the 2016 National Selection Regatta I on March 24 in Chula Vista, Calif., they both could have an opportunity to represent the U.S. again, this time as members of the 2016 team that will compete at the Olympic Games in Rio. In winning the event, they earned invitations to the selection camp from which the U.S. lightweight men’s four will be chosen. In an interview following the final, Prendes and King talked about their race and what it meant to them to represent the country.
