PRINCETON, N.J. – While crews from around the country put in the last week of practice before championship racing begins, there was very little movement in the USRowing Coaches Poll in week seven.

Only the Patriot League has racing on the schedule before this weekend for East Coast lightweight women, but even that did not significantly alter the poll standings from last week.

As they have since the second week of polling, Yale University dominated the top of theDSC_6775 men’s varsity eight slate, earning 11 first-place votes. The University of California remained second. Only Princeton University moved from fourth to third. The University of Washington had one first-place vote, but dropped to fourth in total points. Harvard University finished fifth.

Like the heavyweights, the Yale University lightweight men stayed in first in the lightweight men's eight poll with three first-place votes. Columbia University had one first-place vote and held second. Princeton University held third with one first-place vote. Cornell University was fourth and the University of Pennsylvania was fifth.

DSC_6568In the lightweight women’s poll, Stanford University held first, where they have been all season. Boston University finished second and has the Patriot League Championships waiting for them on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., on Friday.

Harvard-Radcliffe University finished third and the University of Wisconsin and Massachusetts Institute of Technology rounded out the top five.
