LUCERNE, Switzerland – Here is an update on USA crews in action Saturday morning at 2016 World Rowing Cup II.

Lightweight women’s single sculls - Semifinals

Michelle Sechser (Folsom, Calif.) sprinted to the lead to win her semifinal in 7:57.85, securing a place in the afternoon final, scheduled for 4:10 p.m. local time. Sechser, who was in the lightweight double the past two world championships and qualified that boat class for Rio, failed to advance in the heats, but returned to win yesterday's repechage. Germany and Denmark also advanced. New Zealand, Australia and Canada advanced from the second semi.


Lightweight men’s single sculls - Semifinals

In the first race,  Hugh McAdam (Hollis, N.H.) finished fourth in 7:20.72, just missing a spot in the final. He will race in the B final, scheduled for 3:50 p.m. local time.

In the second race, the second, third and fourth-place scullers finished in a tight pack, with nine-time national team member Austin Meyer (Cohoes, N.Y.) edged out by 0.43 seconds. Meyer joins McAdam in the afternoon B final; the USA scullers face The Netherlands, Hungary, Peru and Azerbaijan for places 7-12.

Men’s single sculls - C Final

Two-time Olympian Ken Jurkowski (New Fairfield, Conn.) dominated the race to win in 7:31.22. Jurkowski raced in the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta earlier this week, but was eliminated from competition in the repechages. Graves, a three-time national team athlete, finished second to Jurkowski at the 2016 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team Trials last month.

Craftsbury Sculling Center's Thomas Graves (Cincinnati, Ohio) crossed in fifth in 7:38.33, edged out by Argentina and Lithuania.

Lightweight women’s double sculls - C Final

Kate Bertko (Oakland, Calif.) and Devery Karz (Park City, Utah) finished fifth in Friday morning's heat and did not advance in the afternoon repechages. The USA crew scratched from competition in the C final on Saturday.

1:30 p.m. - USA1 women’s pair semifinal 1 (three to advance to final)
1:37 p.m. - USA2 women’s pair semifinal 2 (three to advance to final)
1:58 p.m. - USA men’s double sculls repechage (two to advance to final)
2:26 p.m. - USA women’s single sculls semifinal (three to advance to final)
3:08 p.m. - USA lightweight men’s double sculls semifinal (three to advance to final)
3:29 p.m. - USA1 and USA2 women’s quadruple sculls repechage (four advance to final)
3:36 p.m. - USA men’s quadruple sculls repechage (four advance to final)
3:50 p.m. - USA1 and USA2 lightweight men’s single sculls B final
4:10 p.m. - USA lightweight women’s single sculls A final
