PRINCETON, N.J. – Whole Foods Market in Princeton opened its doors to the USRowing National Team this week to show support and raise funds for their Row to Rio. The store hosted two events: a Giving Grill and 5% Day to fundraise over $7,000 for the USRowing National Team.

Athletes were onsite during the events to meet with shoppers and share their experiences training for the upcoming Olympics this August.

“It was a blast to have Olympians at the store! The customers loved meeting the athletes and learning that Olympians train right here in Princeton,” said Jill Rizzi, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods Market - Princeton. “We’re glad we could show our support for the USRowing National Team as they enter the last few weeks of training before the Games.”

The USRowing Training Center is based in Princeton, NJ and houses the men’s and women’s big boat camps. Athletes for the remaining Rio-bound boats were announced earlier this week.

“The Whole Foods Princeton team went above and beyond to make this event a success,” said Beth Kohl, chief marketing officer of USRowing. “We’re grateful for everything that they’ve done to support our National Team rowers this year.  Princeton is our hometown and it was heartwarming to see the community come out in support of our athletes. Princeton’s support, including that of Whole Foods Market, means so much to our team and will spur us on as we work to reach the podium in Rio. Thank you.”
