Be a Part of the Olympic Journey in the Row to Rio Challenge!

by Sarah Marshall, smarshall@urowing.org | Mar 02, 2016
Support the U.S. national team as USRowing challenges you to join the #RowtoRioChallenge!

We made it to Rio! With over one month until the opening ceremonies, the Row to Rio Challenge is on its way back to the United States. Currently, more than 8,000,000 meters have been logged from individuals, clubs and organizations across the country.

The remainder of the trip will take about 7,000,000 more meters and we need your help! You can show your support by posting a video or photo of your workout on Twitter or Instagram using #RowToRioChallenge.

Our country's elite athletes are training up to three times a day, putting their lives on hold and working their hardest to represent the red, white and blue in Rio this year. Dedicate the meters from your workouts to the #RowtoRioChallenge and become a part of the Olympic journey.

How Can YOU get involved?
There are many creative ways to get involved: Dedicate a workout to the national team! Host a community-rowing event! The possibilities are endless.

EngineRm in New York City has taken the Challenge to heart, setting a goal of rowing the entire distance to Rio on their own. Each week, they set aside workouts to contribute to the Challenge and have been met with great success. Since the start of their journey at the beginning of June, they have gone nearly half way, clearing Puerto Rico and speeding toward Trinidad and Tobago.

USRowing will be at the Independence Day Regatta (Philadelphia, Pa.) from July 1-3 and at Club Nationals (Bethel, Ohio) from July 13-17 with an erging tent for you to add some meters of your own. Whether you row 500 meters, 5000 meters or more, every meter counts.

Stay tuned to the USRowing Twitter and Instagram for the latest updates on the Challenge!

Thank you for your continued support of the national team and we look forward to seeing you in Rio!
